Puzzle Blox won’t download, stuck at “Authorizing credit card…”

This is a known issue on the Android market not directly related to Puzzle Blox. Please refer to the following posting on the official Google Android market help board: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=768ff3029eb670cf&hl=en.

The suggested workaround is to simply wait about one hour (sometimes a bit more) for the download to start. Some people stated that rebooting the phone helps, too. I’m very sorry for the inconveniences this might cause but there’s only little I can do about it. Please keep me updated on this issue… I will try to help you wherever I can.

Tilting does not work / Blocks are falling in wrong direction

Tilting works best if you hold the phone just upright in front of you and then rotate it clockwise or counter-clockwise in the direction you want make your blocks falling to. Watch my YouTube video to see how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR8sZQo_O-M

Tilting is still broken!

The guys over at ktk.bz, the creators of the “Bubble” app for Android, have posted a short guide in case your accelerometer is stuck or malfunctioning. Here’s a short excerpt:

Bubble uses your phone’s accelerometer to determine the current angle. Dropping your phone can cause its accelerometer to malfunction, suddenly becoming extremely inaccurate or even stuck in one position. (I had this happen to me after I dropped my phone on pavement.) Luckily this does not necessarily mean your accelerometer is permanently damaged. A factory reset was able to correct this problem for me and for a number of other people who contacted me with similar problems.

If your angle is off by a large amount (mine was off by about 30 degrees) or stuck in one position with little or no change in value no matter how you hold it, your accelerometer is probably malfunctioning. Try testing other apps that use your phone’s orientation, like Amazed, Wikitude, or Google Street View with compass mode enabled. If you find similar problems with other apps, you should definitely try performing a factory reset on your phone to correct the problem. T-Mobile support will walk you through this process.

At least one user reported that the tilting issues were raised due to a custom “hacked” ROM for the Android. So if you are using custom ROMs, e.g. derived from the HTC Hero, beware that this might break the one or the other functionality of your phone. In this case I can just advise to not use any non-official ROMs on your phone, sorry.

I have downloaded an APK file from your website. How can I install it on my phone?

Recently I have added a complete section about how to install Android applications (APKs) directly from your SD card without using the Google Android market. You can find more details on this in the following chapter: How to Install APK files on your Android phone
